Last season, on 32 tries, Jake Elliott knocked through 30 field goals, including a 561-yarder, to give him a remarkable 93.8% mark for the season. That’s been typical throughout his career, as he made 86.2% of his kicks heading into the season.
This year, though, Elliott has bee a bit shakier. He entered Week 11 with three misses on teh docket already, and against the Commanders on Thursday Night Football, he missed two more, from 44 and 51 yards. The Eagles did go on to win, 26-18.
He did make two kicks (21 and 31 yards), but added a missed extra point on what was a forgettable night for the 2021 Pro Bowler.
There might be some growing concern about Elliott’s struggles this season among the Eagles faithful. But there does not appear to be any such concern from one of Elliott’s predecessors, David Akers, who was with the Eagels for 12 seasons and is one of the great kickers in the history of the franchise (and the NFL).
After Elliott’s rough night, Akers showed some support, writing on Twitter/X:
