A Newark woman is behind bars, charged in a series of vehicle thefts and shoplifting incidents.
Delaware State Police allege that Christina Cerroni, 46, is responsible for several vehicle thefts that happened in Newark and Wilmington between Sept. 27 and Dec. 29. In each case, the vehicle was left unlocked, police said.
Cerroni is also accused of stealing from Christiana Mall stores on several occasions in the spring, totaling over $1,000 in stolen merchandise, police said.
State troopers had warrants for her arrest but were not able to find her until Dec. 30, when troopers were called to Delaware Park Casino for a report of a disorderly woman refusing to leave the property.
The woman gave a fake name, but a trooper recognized her as Cerroni from previous investigations.
Cerroni was arrested and charged with five counts of motor vehicle theft, five counts of shoplifting, theft, criminal impersonation, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, trespassing and public intoxication. She was jailed after failing to post $2,000 cash bond.
