DOVER— Just days after winning his reelection bid in early November, state Rep. Kevin Hensley was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular assault and a DUI misdemeanor following an incident that occurred just north of Milford, according to court records.
A Delaware State Police report obtained by the Daily State News details the events that led to the Townsend Republican’s arrest on Nov. 9, approximately two months before he was arraigned at the Kent County Justice of the Peace Court on Tuesday.
According to court documents reported from state troopers on the scene, Rep. Hensley allegedly pulled out of a Valero gas station in his Toyota Tacoma on Del. 1 southbound around 6 p.m. on Nov. 9.
While pulling out of the location, he was struck by a Ford Fusion operated by a 71-year-old man from Lincoln who sustained non-life-threatening injuries after the collision caused his car to roll multiple times before coming to a complete stop in the lawn of a nearby home.
Upon arrival and the ensuing investigation, Delaware State Police reported that Rep. Hensley said he did not see the vehicle approaching when pulling out of the Valero.
