Man arrested for shoplifting large amount of bacon in Northeast escapes police vehicle, runs off

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are searching for a man they say escaped police custody early Saturday morning after being arrested for shoplifting in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say just before 7 a.m., loss prevention officers at the ShopRite on Frankford Avenue detained a man after watching him steal “a large quantity of bacon.”

Officers responded to the scene and took the man into custody, placing him in the back of a police car with his hands cuffed behind his back…
