K-9 Guci Retires After Distinguished Career with New Castle County Police

NEW CASTLE, DE — After more than nine years of dedicated service, K-9 Guci of the New Castle County Division of Police has officially retired, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and excellence in public safety.

Guci, an 11-year-old Belgian Shepherd from Slovakia, joined the department in 2016 at just 1.5 years old. She served as a dual-purpose patrol and explosive detection K9, working alongside her handler, Senior Corporal Devan Williams. Together, they played a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security of the community, conducting patrol operations and carrying out explosive detection missions.

To mark her retirement on March 14, 2025, Guci enjoyed a celebratory game of catch with her favorite ball before taking one final ride in a police car. She now begins her well-earned retirement alongside S/Cpl. Williams, where she will spend her days relaxing, playing with her toys, and enjoying a peaceful life…
