Fair Hill man’s 1963 Chevy II 400 convertible wins national competition

FAIR HILL — Fran Bailey pays meticulous attention to detail when working on his antique cars, making sure that every part that he installs is historically accurate, that it is the correct shape and that it is exactly the right color.

Bailey, 82, also puts in hard work to present a pristine-looking automobile when competing in car shows across the United States, something the Elkton-area resident has successfully done for several years.

So it’s not surprising that Bailey’s 1963 Chevrolet Chevy II 400 convertible recently received the top honor – the Louis Chevrolet Memorial Award – in a nationwide competition that started with a field of 2,400 automobiles that were exhibited in numerous car shows across the United States…
