A 17-year-old from Middletown was taken into custody last Tuesday afternoon following an attempted robbery during what was supposed to be a simple car sale in the Villages at Fairview Farms neighborhood, the New Castle County Police reported.
The incident unfolded on Chancellorsville Circle when the young suspect, during a test drive, pulled a weapon on the vehicle’s owner and others present, demanding they exit the car; however, the supposed firearm was later identified as a BB gun. It was during this harrowing moment that a scuffle occurred, ultimately leading to the suspect being restrained by the vehicle’s owner and other occupants until law enforcement arrived, according to New Castle County Police’s social media post.
Following the altercation, the teenager was transported to police headquarters, where he’s now facing several charges, including two felony counts of aggravated menacing and one count of attempted robbery in the first degree.
