DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of road closures and detours in Delaware County as part of CSX Railroad’s planned track maintenance operations. The closures, scheduled to take place across April and May, will disrupt several key roads in multiple boroughs and townships, affecting daily commuter traffic.
The first closure will begin at 8:00 AM on Monday, April 14, and last until 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 16. Oak Lane, spanning Bonsall Avenue to Llanwellyn Avenue in Collingdale, Folcroft, and Glenolden boroughs, will be closed around the clock, with traffic rerouted via MacDade Boulevard, Clifton Avenue, and U.S. 13 (Chester Pike).
- Following this, Morton Avenue/Swarthmore Avenue will close between MacDade Boulevard and Rogers Street from 8:00 AM on Wednesday, April 16, through 12:00 PM on Friday, April 18.
- Fairview Road will face similar disruptions from April 21 to April 23, South Avenue from May 19 to May 21, and
- Holmes Road/Amosland Road from May 28 to May 30. Each closure will require full 24-hour detour plans.
Local traffic access will still be permitted to certain areas. According to PennDOT, drivers passing through these zones should factor in additional travel times, as delays are expected. All construction schedules remain weather dependent to ensure the safety and efficiency of operations.
