KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Square Memorial Day Parade, the largest of its kind in Chester County, will commence at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025. Beginning at South and Union Streets and concluding at Union Hill Cemetery, the parade is a cherished tradition, dating back to 1948, that honors those who gave their lives in service to the nation.
This year’s parade features three distinguished Grand Marshals, each representing a different branch of the military and periods of service. Ralph D. Doss, a Navy veteran of World War II who celebrated his 100th birthday earlier this year, served aboard the USS Sigourney and USS Duluth. Ronald L. Taylor, a Marine Corps Corporal, fought in 12 major Vietnam operations and was awarded multiple honors, including the Marine Achievement Medal with “V” for valor. James “Mike” DeFazio, an Air Force Crew Chief during the Vietnam War, provided critical support for aircraft operations.
“It’s events like the Memorial Day Parade that bring our community together to reflect on the sacrifices of those who served,” said Dr. Gretchen Rickards, a board member of Kennett Collaborative. “We’re proud to preserve traditions that honor our nation’s heroes and celebrate our shared history.”…
