NORTH EAST — A man is facing assault and weapons charges after he allegedly pointed a handgun at a man near North East earlier this week after the alleged victim would not allow the suspect to enter his vehicle while possessing a pipe used to smoke marijuana, according to Cecil County District Court records.
Investigators identified the suspect as Thomas Stephen Wetzel Stiles, 35, of North East. Court records indicate that the alleged victim — a man who is 70 years old — has the same last name as the suspect, but they do not specify what, if any, relationship the two have.
The investigation leading to Stiles’ arrest and charges started at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday (April 21), when Maryland State Police troopers rushed to a residence in the 200 block of North East Road (Route 272) after receiving a dispatch regarding for a “first-degree assault that involved knife and firearm,” court records show…
