NORTH EAST — Investigators are blaming an unattended candle for triggering a blaze that caused approximately $50,000 in damage to a townhouse near North East on Monday, displacing its four occupants, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
A passerby called 911 at 11:29 a.m. Monday, after discovering the burning building in the unit block of Cedar Hill Circle, prompting area volunteer fire companies to respond, fire officials said. North East Volunteer Fire Company served as the on-scene command unit, fire officials added.
