Delaware city evaluating ‘Pallet Village’ for homeless people

NEWARK, Del. — City officials in Newark, Delaware are in the early stages of evaluating whether a transitional housing village of small cabins could be a solution to local homelessness.

Council members John Suchanec and Corinth Ford visited such a village in Georgetown, Delaware and suggested that a similar idea could be implemented here.

“We truly felt the experience was transformative,” Suchanec said. “The approach that Georgetown has taken is starting to shape up to be a model for how you would deal with homeless sheltering.”…
