Fourteen-Year-Old Arrested in Wilmington for Alleged Gun Possession While Operating Scooter

WILMINGTON, DE — A 14-year-old male juvenile is facing multiple charges after Wilmington Police say they discovered him in possession of a loaded firearm while illegally operating a motorized scooter on the evening of July 4.

According to authorities, officers were patrolling in the area of Justison and Beech Streets at approximately 9:04 p.m. when they observed a male subject riding a motorized scooter in violation of local regulations. Upon making contact, police identified the individual as a 14-year-old male juvenile.

During the encounter, officers allegedly found the juvenile to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun. The teenager was taken into custody at the scene without incident…
