Newark Free Library demolished ahead of rebuild

Workers spent the last week demolishing the Newark Free Library, turning the building that for 50 years served as a gathering place for Newarkers young and old into a pile of rubble.

From that rubble, however, will rise a new, larger, state-of-the-art library that will serve the next generations of Newark residents. Completion is set for spring 2027.
