Wilmington Man Accused of Cutting Live Utility Cables in Late-Night Heist Arrested

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man has been arrested in connection with an early morning incident involving the attempted theft of utility cables, according to the New Castle County Division of Police.

On June 11, 2025, at approximately 2:26 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious individual using power tools and dragging objects near the 1300 block of Milltown Road. Upon arrival, authorities discovered large utility cables hanging from telephone poles at the intersection of Milltown Road and McKennan’s Church Road that had been freshly cut. Witnesses indicated that the suspect had fled the area moments before police arrived.

During a subsequent search of the vicinity, officers located a section of severed cable behind a nearby property, along with a silver Lincoln MKX SUV. The vehicle was found to contain tools commonly used to cut and remove utility lines, further implicating its connection to the scene…
