Three men plead guilty to making false threats against Newark High School

Three men are facing federal prison time after they admitted to orchestrating a string of “swatting” incidents around the country, including calling in false reports of a shooting at Newark High School last year.

On Monday, Evan Strauss, 27, of Moneta, Va., pleaded guilty to conspiracy, cyberstalking, interstate threatening communications, and threats to damage or destroy by means of fire and explosives. He faces up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced in November.

His co-conspirators, Owen Jarboe, 19, of Hagerstown, Md., and Brayden Grace, 19, of Columbus, Ohio, previously pleaded guilty to similar offenses and are awaiting sentencing…
