Chubby Chicks is closing in Philadelphia, citing harassment, noise complaints

Chubby Chicks, a Black-owned brunch cafe which moved from Blackwood in Camden County to Center City Philadelphia in December, will close its doors by the end of August, according to its owner.

Owner and chef Shakeira “Keira” Turner, a South Jersey native, said in an Instagram video that her Walnut Street restaurant will close by “next month.” She cited alleged racial harassment since moving into her larger Philly space and also violations that have piled up over noise complaints.
