Wilmington Teen Caught With Loaded .45 After Late-Night Foot Chase, Police Say

WILMINGTON, DE — An 18-year-old Wilmington man is facing multiple firearm-related charges after police say he fled from officers during an early morning encounter on Tuesday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the incident occurred on August 12 at approximately 12:38 a.m. when officers patrolling near 6th and North Van Buren Streets attempted to stop a man allegedly operating an electric scooter illegally.

Police allege the individual, identified as Antwain Canty, abandoned the scooter and ran from the scene. During the pursuit, officers say Canty removed a firearm from his waistband. Additional units responded and apprehended him without further incident in the 200 block of North Harrison Street…
