His drugs marked the largest Delaware fentanyl bust. He’ll spend decades behind bars

A Middletown drug kingpin who had more than 10 kilograms of fentanyl seized by law enforcement − representing the largest fentanyl bust in Delaware, according to federal prosecutors − will spend the next two-and-a-half decades behind bars.

Dwayne Fountain, 54, was sentenced on Aug. 24 to 25 years in federal prison, the U.S. Department of Justice said. He was found guilty of drug distribution in a February trial.

Chief U.S. District Judge Colm Connolly noted at sentencing that Fountain headed a large drug trafficking organization. Prosecutors previously said his co-conspirators, several of whom were also charged and convicted, stretched from Seaford to Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The case, which involved federal, state and municipal law enforcement − including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Delaware State Police and Dover Police − netted 10.5 kilograms of fentanyl, more than 200 grams of “100% pure methamphetamine,” more than 3.5 kilograms of cocaine and nearly 3 kilograms of heroin, the DOJ said…
