Man arrested and charged in Elkton beer-bottle assault

ELKTON — A man remained jailed Tuesday after he allegedly struck a longtime enemy in the head with a beer bottle on the street of an Elkton neighborhood over the weekend, causing a forehead cut that bled profusely and sent the alleged victim to an area hospital in an ambulance, according to Cecil County District Court records.

Investigators identified the suspect as 35-year-old Miguel Antonio Villagomez, who is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, court records show. Those offenses carry maximum sentences of 25 years, 10 years and five years respectively.

The investigation leading to Villagomez’ arrest and the charges against him started at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, when Elkton Police Department officers rushed to a residence in the 100 block of Hollingsworth Manor after receiving a dispatch regarding an assault that left the alleged victim on the brink of “passing out,” police reported…
