UPDATE | Police called in to disperse Wilmington crowd

Dozens of police cars from multiple police agencies rolled down 4th Street in Wilmington Sunday evening, September 14, 2025, following the Hispanic Day Parade, but it wasn’t part of the parade.

Wilmington Police said they began receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls about criminal activity, disorderly conduct, fights, and people with guns, in the area around 4th and Dupont streets shortly after the parade wrapped up at 4 p.m.

Police said the crowd in the area grew during the evening to over 1,000 who refused to leave.

According to police, bottles and rocks were thrown, and cars and off-road vehicles were being driven recklessly around the area…
