N.J. mall tried charging $10 for parking spots near the doors. Shoppers weren’t having it

Paying to park close to the mall’s doors? Shoppers at one New Jersey mall weren’t having it, and now the revenue-making program is gone.

Deptford Mall recently quietly rolled out a “Premier Parking” program that charged drivers $10 to snag a spot near its entrances.

The spaces were marked with signs and QR codes that directed shoppers to a website, where they could enter a license plate and time slot before paying to park in the reserved front-door spots…
