Just after 5:00 a.m. Thursday, Wilmington emergency crews were dispatched to the 500 block of South Locust Street for reports of a shooting.
While responders were on the way, information was updated to indicate the incident could be a shooting or a stabbing. When police arrived, they secured the area and directed medical crews to clear the scene.
At about 5:45 a.m., rescue crews were called back to another location on South Locust Street. There, they located a man suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso.
