Man gets six years in Elkton drug-gun case

ELKTON — A man has received a six-year prison term after accepting a plea deal in a criminal case relating to investigators confiscating two loaded handguns, more than 50 rounds of ammunition, two and a half ounces of methamphetamine and other contraband while searching his Elkton residence in June 2024, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.

Cecil County Circuit Court Judge Robert Sentman imposed a 10-year sentence on the defendant — Lance Joseph Poppiti, 35, of Elkton — for possession of a controlled and dangerous substance with intent to distribute and then suspended seven years of the penalty during a Sept. 29 courtroom hearing, leaving Poppiti with a three-year term, court records show.

In addition, Sentman imposed a consecutive five-year sentence on Poppiti for illegal possession of a regulated firearm and then suspended two years of that penalty, leaving him with another three-year term, according to court records…
