Police: Burglary suspect punched two EPD officers in their heads

ELKTON — A man is facing five criminal charges after he allegedly punched two law enforcement officers in their heads outside his Elkton residence as they were investigating a burglary-in-progress report, according to Cecil County District Court records.

The suspect — James E. Blake, 26 — encountered the two Elkton Police Department officers at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Oct. 16 in the 300 block of Curtis Avenue — moments after he allegedly broke into his neighbor’s home and then fled when a man who lives there pointed a handgun at him, court records show.

EPD Sgt. Andrew Tuer and Cpl. AJ McGonigle were dispatched to a Curtis Avenue residence that is approximately two doors away from where Blake lives, after the resident at that address reported that a man shattered the front-door window, unlocked the door and then walked into the dwelling, causing an estimated $300 in combined damage to the glass and to the lock, police reported…
