Newark 911 center can now accept live video feed from callers

Callers reporting an emergency to Newark’s 911 dispatch center now have the ability to share a live video feed with dispatchers, who can use the footage to assist police officers, EMTs and firefighters responding to the scene.

“These advancements are not just technological improvements; they are lifesaving tools,” said Lt. Greg D’Elia, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department. “By giving telecommunicators better insight into emergencies as they happen, the upgrades strengthen investigations, enhance responder safety and ultimately improve outcomes for those in crisis.”
