Man gets 40 years for deadly shooting in Elkton neighborhood

ELKTON — A man who gunned down a customer during a drug deal on an Elkton neighborhood street in November 2024 received a 40-year prison term Wednesday after accepting a plea deal, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.

Cecil County Circuit Court Judge William W. Davis Jr. imposed a maximum 40-year sentence on the defendant — Macio Delion Freeman, 31, of Elkton — after the defendant pleaded guilty to second-degree murder as part of a plea agreement reached by Deputy State’s Attorney Patricia Fitzgerald and Freeman’s Annapolis-based defense lawyer, William Cooke, court records show.

In exchange for his guilty plea, the prosecution agreed to dismiss 17 related charges against Freemah, including the most serious count, first-degree murder, which is punishable by up to life in prison…
