Thanksgiving DUI Checkpoint Planned in New Castle County to Promote Safer Local Roads

On November 26, 2025, the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS), Delaware State Police, and local law enforcement will conduct a DUI checkpoint in New Castle County. The checkpoint is scheduled during Thanksgiving, a time with increased travel and a higher risk of impaired driving. From 2020 to 2024, Delaware recorded 99 impaired driving crashes during the Thanksgiving holiday period. This data shows the need for continued prevention efforts.

The checkpoint is part of the state’s ‘Drive Sober. Arrive Alive.’ campaign. The campaign includes education, outreach, and enforcement to address impaired driving.
