Elkton man gets one year for helping father beat, rob ex-boss

ELKTON — A man received a one-year jail term Monday for assisting his father in beating and robbing his dad’s former employer outside a convenience store near North East in December 2024, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.

Cecil County Circuit Court Judge William W. Davis Jr. imposed a maximum 10-year sentence on the defendant — Jay Glenn Russell Mabe, 33, of Elkton — for robbery and then suspended nine years of the penalty, leaving him with a one-year jail term that he will serve in the Cecil County Detention Center, court records show. The judge gave Mabe credit for 23 days that he served in the county jail as a pretrial inmate after his arrest.
