Stolen Gun Discovery Leads to Arrest After Wilmington Police Street Encounter

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police arrested a 19-year-old man after officers recovered a stolen handgun during a street encounter on Thursday, marking the latest development in the city’s ongoing effort to curb gun crime.

Members of the Gun Intelligence Unit were patrolling the area of West 4th Street and Delamore Place at approximately 11:34 a.m. on December 4 when they made contact with Ollier Mays. Police say they recovered a loaded 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number, and Mays was taken into custody without incident.
