County taxpayers could be hit with another big increase for 2026

Delaware County residents are facing another significant property tax increase as County Council last week proposed a 19 percent hike for 2026 on the heels of a 23 percent tax increase imposed in 2025. If this measure is approved at the Dec. 10 meeting of Council, it will mean county taxes within the last two years taxes would have increased by 40 percent.

A homeowner with property valued at $255,000 would see $188 annually or $15.67 monthly, added to their tax bill. According to county Executive Director Barbara O’Malley’s 2026 budget proposal, millage could reach 4.609.
