Burglary Case Breaks Weeks Later as Wilmington Police Make Arrest

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a city man following an investigation into an alleged burglary reported last month on South Jackson Street.

According to police, officers with the Uniformed Services Division responded around 11:44 a.m. on November 6 to the 200 block of South Jackson Street after a burglary was reported. The case was later assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Investigators allege that through the course of the investigation, Detective Merced identified 43-year-old David Smith as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On December 6, police located Smith in the 300 block of North Adams Street and took him into custody without incident…
