Less than a year after authorizing the first-ever tattoo shop in Newark, city council remains reluctant to expand that permission.
Last week, the council denied tattoo artist Brittnie Lopez’s request to be able to host pop-up tattoo events at local businesses and nonprofits.
“What we agreed to was a place of business that would be by-appointment only, and that’s been adhered to, that’s fine,” Councilwoman Corinth Ford said. “I’m not going to open the door, particularly when I don’t know exactly what it is that we’re letting in.”…
