Tunnel to Towers to pay off mortgage for slain trooper’s family

NEW CASTLE — The nonprofit Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced Dec. 29 that it plans to pay off the mortgage on the home of fallen Delaware State Police Cpl./1 Matthew “Ty” Snook.

According to authorities, Cpl. Snook, 34, was fatally shot at a Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles facility in New Castle on Dec. 23. In his final moments, police said, the trooper pushed a DMV employee out of the way of the gunman and told the worker to run, saving his or her life.
