Heavy traffic expected Monday for trooper’s funeral; Christina schools switch to remote learning

Authorities are warning Newarkers to expect heavy traffic on Monday as law enforcement officers and community members gather at the Bob Carpenter Center for a memorial service for fallen state trooper Cpl. Mathew T. “Ty” Snook.

“Please expect significant traffic delays from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” said Sgt. Michael Watson, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department. “There will be increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic before, during and after the funeral in anticipation for a large turnout.”

Police are expecting more than 3,000 vehicles associated with the memorial service…
