Former Archmere Headmaster Rev. Joseph McLaughlin dies

Rev. Joseph McLaughlin, one of the major backbones behind Archmere Academy, died Sunday after a brief illness.

Father McLaughlin spent parts of six decades teaching and leading at the Catholic school, as one of the last teaching Norbertine Priests out of Paoli, Pennsylvania’s Daylesford Abbey.

The Philadelphia native came to Archmere in 1970 as an English, Theology, and Speech teacher, eventually being named the school’s Headmaster in 1983.

After leaving for five years, he returned as the Director of Mission and Heritage and Chaplain in 2001, a role McLaughlin would hold until his death, except a stretch from 2006-2010 where he once again was Headmaster…
