Red Clay Consolidated School District is planning to phase out one high school.
Delaware’s largest public school district has laid out plans to transition the nearly 60-year-old Thomas McKean High School into an “Innovation Campus.” That’s not a vocational-technical school, rather a vision for a drop-in center for career and technical programming, industry credentialing, early college courses and more.
By 2027, the district would then consolidate students in two traditional public high schools: Alexis I. du Pont and John Dickinson School. This aims, as the district has outlined, to deliver “increased enrollment and more robust academic and extracurricular offerings.”…
