Wilmington Police Arrest Daiquan Reams on Gun Charges After Vehicle Stop Linked to Shots Fired Incident

Wilmington Police have taken a 30-year-old Daiquan Reams into custody on gun-related charges following a vehicle stop, according to a recent report from the area. The arrest came in the aftermath of a shots-fired complaint on January 14th, near East 11th and North Spruce Streets at around 5:06 p.m., when officers were first alerted to the alleged incident.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, Reams was identified by the Uniformed Services Division based on descriptions of the suspect and the vehicle thought to be involved. The Safe Streets Task Force located the mentioned vehicle, a brief encounter later, in the 900 block of Vandever Avenue. A vehicle stop was conducted, and Reams was subsequently arrested without resistance. Further investigation led police to execute a search warrant on his vehicle, where a loaded .9mm handgun, along with ammunition and clothing matched to the suspect description, were recovered.

The actions taken by the police department are part of an ongoing investigation into the shots-fired complaint. As it currently stands, the connection between the gunfire and Reams has not been explicitly detailed beyond the matching descriptions and recovery of a firearm. Reams is facing multiple charges, including two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.
