A Wilmington institution for more than 50 years, the Carspecken-Scott Gallery announced that it will be closing its doors in February.
Fred Carspecken founded the gallery, which began in 1973 as both a custom framing shop and an art gallery. The shop’s custom framing services emphasize proper framing techniques of photography and a wide variety of artwork to ensure future preservation.
The gallery has hosted exhibitions featuring all types of artwork by contemporary Eastern and Mid-Atlantic artists. Early exhibitions included prominent Delaware artists like Mary Page Evans, Tania Boucher, and Tom Bostelle. Carspecken also emphasized marketing his artists to the professional community in Wilmington.
