A former borough councilman from Salem County has pleaded guilty in a pair of corruption cases, according to the state attorney general’s office.
Carl Washington Jr., 52, entered guilty pleas on Jan. 13 to allegations that he stole funding from a state litter cleanup program to enrich himself and a relative, prosecutors said. He also pleaded guilty to falsely reporting his income in order to lower the rent he paid on a government-subsidized apartment.
