County Council’s newly installed Chairman Richard R. Womack emphatically declared he will not resign for participating in the county’s property tax payment program, according to a statement delivered at last Wednesday night’s meeting.
The evening’s primary agenda item centered on Council considering an increase in the county’s hotel occupancy tax to five percent. The current rate of three percent is lower than neighboring counties and approving an increase to would nearly double the revenue collected by the county, according to data presented by the non-profit tourism promotional arm, Visit Delco.
