We have all heard the phrase, “It’s so cold outside that it’s not fit for man nor beast.” A small red fox took that saying literally last week and found its way to a cozy perch on a shelf inside the Giant Supermarket on West Chester Pike in Broomall.
The cute little animal curled up on a shelf surrounded by paper towels and soda until it was removed by Marple Township Animal Control.
From “Poor Fox, let him warm up,” to others questioning the ultimate fate of the animal, comments on social media were plentiful. “Imagine all the dogs and cats out there abandoned in Philly,” wrote Bennie Leila Cilla. “If you see something, say something. They cannot withstand the cold. I have seen several dogs frozen to death in Philly and they were thrown out like trash. They are not just animals. They are sentient beings and they feel pain, joy, sadness, and grief.”…
