Traffic Stop Yields Felony Drug Charges in Early-Morning Bust

NEW CASTLE, DE — What began as a routine equipment stop along a dark stretch of Memorial Drive early Monday morning ended with two Delaware men facing felony drug dealing charges, according to the Delaware State Police.

Troopers said that at approximately 1:30 a.m. on February 9, 2026, a patrol unit observed a Volvo XC90 traveling near North Dupont Highway with an equipment violation. The vehicle was pulled over, and the trooper made contact with the driver, identified as 45-year-old William Comer Jr. of Wilmington, and a passenger, 59-year-old Darrell Maxion of Bear.

During the stop, police allege that troopers learned Comer was in possession of drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search of the vehicle and its occupants allegedly led to the discovery of approximately 34 grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately 0.99 grams of suspected heroin, two digital scales, and drug packaging materials…
