‘He saved all of us’: Newark boy, 11, honored for quick thinking during house fire

Firefighters are used to being the heroes, but on Friday, Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company turned the tables and honored a Newark fifth-grader credited with saving his family from a house fire.

“At our fire company, we have an award reserved for the bravest of the brave: the Heroic Firefighter Award,” Chief John Guzzo said during a ceremony at Wilson Elementary School. “It recognizes courage, decisive action and protecting others in the face of danger. Today, we are proud to recognize Micah Williams for heroism.”
