Firefighters from the City of Wilmington and neighboring New Castle County companies, were called out for a two alarm fire early Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026, at the Wilmington Wastewater Treatment Plant on Hay Road.
Arriving units made an initial interior attack of the flames involving an industrial dryer and associated equipment, but an explosion forced an evacuation of the structure and the sounding of the second alarm.
