A man who was shot to death by officers following a lengthy standoff in north Wilmington armed himself with several weapons, according to new details released Wednesday about Tuesday’s incident.
New Castle County Police said an acquaintance of the 35-year-old man who was in the home with him on Ramsey Road heard gunshots, and saw him with a gun, shortly before 4:00 p.m. Tuesday. That person fled for safety, and arriving officers continued to hear gunshots.
The Crisis Management Group, including negotiators and the SWAT team, also responded, and heard more gunshots. Some officers at the perimeter had rounds fired in their direction.
