Wilmington City Council has passed a resolution to urge SEPTA and DelDOT to consider reopening the now-closed commuter rail ticket office at the Wilmington train station.
The closure in December was part of a wave of SEPTA cutbacks driven by budget challenges. Before and after, the Delaware Transit Coalition has been attempting to highlight the importance of staffing the ticket office.
“I sympathize with SEPTA. No doubt, they have a lot of funding challenges. But, we’re really asking the State of Delaware to step in and provide the services that SEPTA can’t provide right now,” John Flaherty with the Delaware Transit Coalition said.
