Newark’s first automated speed camera is now in place.
Newark Police said Friday that the camera is located on Hillside Road between Sypherd Drive and West Main Street, and will become operational March 24th. For the first 30 days, motorists traveling 11 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit will receive warnings. After that, civil speeding citations will arrive in the mail.
Violations are civil penalties. They do not add points to a driver’s record, and do not impact insurance rates…
