Convict caught with loaded handgun in North East gets suspended sentence

ELKTON — A man received a suspended five-year sentence in a criminal case in which he was caught with a loaded handgun shortly after a customer overheard him talking about how easy it would be to rob the Wendy’s in North East while he was seated inside that fast-food restaurant, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.

Cecil County Circuit Court Judge Cameron A. Brown imposed a five-year sentence on the defendant — Travis L. Stanley, 31, of North East — for possession of a firearm by a felon or by a person with a disqualifying conviction and then suspended the penalty during a March 9 hearing, court records show.
