School bus driver backs into ditch near Elkton; no injuries

ELKTON — A school bus carrying 13 Kenmore Elementary School students sustained “disabling damage” on Monday when the driver backed into a ditch while attempting a U-turn on a two-lane road near Elkton, according the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office.

No one was injured in the single-vehicle incident, which occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Blue Ball Road, north of Elkton, reported Capt. Michael Holmes, a CCSO spokesman.

Bus 94 had been traveling north of Blue Ball Road when the driver reached the scene of an unrelated crash, north of Warburton Road, and realized that it impeded farther northbound travel, Holmes said.
